For over 40 years, Pastors Gary and Jo Ann Porter have been

ministering with the purpose of serving others

and helping them grow to their fullest potential "In Christ".

It is their lives passion that they desire everyone

come to "Discover Your Purpose". As the Pastors, they

use their knowledge of God's Word and their ability to

tell stories just as Jesus did to in order to relate to our

lives today.

Whether preaching or serving the community, they both

long to be proclaimers of the Grace and Hope that

Jesus came to offer. They are truly soul mates, and

together, they have two beautiful children. and

three grandchildren.

Our Church

Encounter Church is non-denominational church proclaiming The Good News of Jesus Christ. We are motivated

to serve others through God's love,in a spirit of faith, for the ultimate purpose of glorifying Him. As a Church we

are committed to helping you grow fully in Christ, filled and led by His Holy Spirit, continually growing in the

grace and knowledge of Him . We are a loving church family where you can find acceptance, fellowship, and

build lasting relationships. You will discover in Pastor Gary's sermons are revelant, challenging, uplifting and

grounded in the Word of God.

TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2026

Dr. Dan Gifford retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in

2010 after 30 years of service in both enlisted and officer roles. He then had

a distinguished civilian career supporting advanced command-and-control

systems for the Air Force.

After a life-changing commitment to Christ early in his military career,

Dan’s desire to see people transformed through true biblical discipleship

was born. Since then, he has dedicated himself to developing Christian

leaders in both the church and the marketplace. He has served as a

Deacon, Elder, Associate Pastor, church planter, and discipleship leader. In

2022, he earned a Doctor of Education in Ministry Leadership from Liberty

University, with research focused on marketplace discipleship.

Dan is the co-founder and board member of The Kingdom Institute, a global

ministry that equips marketplace leaders to advance Kingdom impact

through business. He is passionate about helping men and business leaders

integrate faith, leadership, and discipleship in their everyday work.

Dan and his wife, Carol, have been married for nearly 40 years and are

blessed with three children and six grandchildren.

There are no Bible classes this Thursday due to the Fourth of July vacation week.
